Message: | Dennis was a leader in the best way, by helping others realize their dreams. The cycling commuting has lost one of its best advocates and the reverberation is likely to stay with us for a long time. I first met Dennis at a funeral for another friend and cycling advocate, Chuck Witham. It was obvious that Dennis was troubled by the loss but we were all heartened by each others company. Dennis being very warm to complete strangers (like myself). Over the years Dennis helped out in ways that seemed intangible at the time but really kept the spark alive. He dreamed big with the cycleway project. Having that project lead to other exciting and community focused projects like the museum display at the Pasadena Historical Museum. As a cycling advocate I am scared of the future without Dennis to provide guidance and substance. Let's hope we can all find our internal Dennis to get that guidance somehow. Thanks to all of you for your kind words. I have found them to be inspiring, like Dennis was. |
